Sharks Face Canucks After Clinching Playoffs

San Jose Sharks Visit The Vancouver Canucks

The San Jose Sharks will look to win their third of four matchups against the bottom dwelling Vancouver Canucks in Vancouver after clinching a playoff spot with a big win over the Los Angeles Kings. In their last meeting, the Sharks lost as Jacob Markstrom put on a big performance to help his team get the win. Many Sharks fans are upset about the Sharks play on home ice this year, however, the Canucks home woes this year prove it could always be worse as the Canucks have a league low 13 wins at home. To make matters worse for the Canucks the sharks have not lost at Rogers Arena in their last nine visits dating back to 2013. Another interesting tidbit from this season series is the team that opens the scoring has yet to win a game.

On the injury front, the Sharks still have plenty of concerns as Kevin Kurz of CSN-CA reported that Vlasic was still walking with a limp as of yesterday so any thoughts of him returning to the lineup this regular season are almost all but dashed. Long Beach native Matt Nieto is still nursing a broken knuckle suffered against the Coyotes.

The Canucks injuries are many with Radim Vrbata, Brandon Sutter and Alexander Edler both out for the remainder of the season. Luca Sbisa is considered out week to week while Christopher Tanev and Derek Dorsett are considered day to day.
