Sharks Look to Set Road Win Record

San Jose Sharks Visit the Minnesota Wild

The San Jose Sharks will try and set a franchise record for road victories in a season as they visit the Minnesota Wild in their last road game of the regular season. The Wild have just as much to play for in this game as a win will allow them to clinch the final playoff spot in the West officially eliminating the Colorado Avalanche.  In somewhat of a surprise move, James Reimer has been given the start today for the Sharks.  I’m sure that this will only embolden those who want to believe there is a goalie controversy brewing in San Jose as this is the first time Reimer has started back to back games since coming to San Jose. I’ll admit that with the last couple of starts we had seen from Martin Jones that who should be the starter could be rationally discussed I still think the spot is Jones to lose and everything else at this point is just posturing, still it will be interesting to watch this develop over the final days of the regular season.

On the injury front, the Sharks are still without the services of Matt Nieto and Marc-Edouard Vlasic.  Vlasic has started skating with the team so there is hope that we will see him in one of the final two games of the regular season in San Jose. For the Wild, they will play without Thomas Vanek who one has to wonder has played his final game in a wild sweater as he would seem a likely buyout candidate if he can’t be moved this offseason.
