By virtue of a decisive Game 7 win against the Nashville Predators, the San Jose Sharks punched their tickets to the Western Conference Finals. Interestingly, their opponent, the St. Louis Blues, also needed to win a Game 7 to advance to the Western Conference Finals, which makes this a very intriguing encounter.
San Jose and St. Louis have been long tormented with playoff failures, so the team that is able to break through in this series will move one step closer to hoisting the Stanley Cup. If San Jose is going to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals, it will need a big effort from Logan Couture and Joe Pavelski. Entering the Western Conference Finals, Couture led the team in postseason points (17), while Pavelski has scored a team-high eight goals. Goalie Martin Jones is allowing just 2.16 goals per game.
After a physical Game 1 on Sunday night in St. Louis, expect these two teams to engage in a long, physical series. Game 2 will also be played in St. Louis, but afterwards, Games 3 and 4 will be played at the SAP Center in San Jose. If the series extends to six games, Game 6 will also be played at SAP Center. Game previews for each of San Jose’s home contents are presented below.
