Hertl Will Miss Last Game of Road Trip Due to Injury

Per CSN Bay Area, San Jose Sharks winger/shoehorned third-line centerman Tomas Hertl has been sent back to San Jose for further evaluation following an injury sustained during the 2nd period of Thursday night’s 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues. The injury seems to have occurred after Hertl’s right knee collided with Blues centerman Jori Lehtera.

Sharks fans are no stranger to the 23-year-old’s knee issues, following a season-ending knee injury from Los Angeles Kings centerman Dustin Brown in 2013 and another setback during the 2016 Stanley Cup Final.

Just when the Sharks seemed to be getting their groove back on their recent six-game road trip, things seem have to fallen back out of sync. The Sharks currently sit 9-8 on the year and 3-2 on their current road trip. Hertl’s injury also leaves a gaping hole in the third line of a team that has had enough difficulty finding goals this season.

Sharks head coach Pete DeBoer told reporters earlier today that Hertl will be undergoing more tests and an MRI and will know more soon. Here’s hoping to a quick recovery for Tomas Hertl. Knee injuries must be nevver : – ((
