Sharks Look to get Back on Track Against Struggling Coyotes

San Jose Sharks visit the Arizona Coyotes

This hasn’t been the start to the season that most San Jose Sharks fans were probably hoping for. At 9-8-0 (18 points), they are still third in the Pacific but have the thinnest of leads with the Kings just one point behind them. Thankfully, it’s still pretty early in the season and no one has managed to pull ahead in our sub-par division. San Jose will be looking to jump the Edmonton Oilers (19 points) tonight in the standings when they take on the Arizona Coyotes in Gila River Arena.

Both of these clubs are hoping that tonight will put them back on the right track, as San Jose is in a two-game skid, losing both games by one goal in regulation, and Arizona has lost four straight going 0-2-2.

The Sharks come in to today’s game missing two of their young guns in Tomas Hertl and Melker Karlsson. Hertl had an MRI after sustaining an injury to his right knee in the St. Louis game on Thursday. He has already been ruled out of tonight’s matchup. Karlsson’s status is still unknown at the time of this writing, but he didn’t practice yesterday, per Kevin Kurz and that makes it likely he will miss the finale of this four-game road trip.

A starting goalie has not yet been named for the Sharks, but Mike Smith is expected to be the man in net for the Yotes.

The game will start at 5 P.M. PT and be broadcoast on CSN-CA.
