The San Jose Sharks take on the Edmonton Oilers tonight at SAP Center. The winner of this matchup will take first place in the Pacific Division heading into the Christmas break.
The Sharks have been a hot team as of late, winning four of their last five contests. They are one of the top defensive teams in the league and have finally found their scoring touch after scoring four goals in two of the last three games.
The Oilers are the surprise team in the NHL. After finishing 29th in the NHL last season, they now sit tied for 11th in the league.
This improvement can largely be attributed to the play of Connor McDavid, who missed a large portion of the 2015-16 campaign due to injury. The Oilers’ captain has 40 points in 35 games and boasts a 56 percent corsi-for percentage at even strength.
This is the first time these two teams have met this season, and it is sure to be an exciting game to watch.
