Aaron Dell Gets Start as Sharks Face Flyers

The San Jose Sharks take on the Philadelphia Flyers tonight at SAP Center. This is the first time the two teams will meet this season.

Backup goaltender Aaron Dell will start for the Sharks, meaning Martin Jones will play tomorrow night against the Los Angeles Kings.

Dell has appeared in five career NHL games, including four starts. He has a .926 save percentage and 2.16 goals against average.

The Sharks have been criticized this season for overworking Jones and not allowing Dell to play more despite his successful 3-1-0 record. Jones has played the second most minutes in the league, behind only Cam Talbot of the Edmonton Oilers.

This is Philadelphia’s second road game since the Christmas break; they lost 6-3 to the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday. The Flyers finish up their road trip on Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks.
