San Jose Sharks Host Edmonton Oilers As Patrick Marleau Goes for 500

San Jose Sharks Look to Extend Winning Streak Against Oilers

The San Jose Sharks return home to host the Edmonton Oilers as Patrick Marleau is just two goals away from a career number 500 goals. He has 5 goals in his last two games. The Sharks are also riding a six-game winning streak, looking for their 7th consecutive win.

The Oilers finish up their three-game road trip on the tail-end of a back-to-back, coming off a 4-0 shut out win against the Anaheim Ducks last night.

In another special milestone, Sharks General Manager Doug Wilson becomes only the fourth person in NHL history to both play on and manage a team for 1,000 games. Drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1957 Entry Draft, Wilson played a career total of 1,021 games, including two years with the Sharks, becoming the franchise’s first-ever captain.

Tomas Hertl is officially set to play tonight after being out for months dealing with problems in his right knee. However, the Sharks still do have a few injuries listed, as Joonas Donskoi is day-to-day with an upper body injury, Micheal Haley is out with a lower body, and Dylan DeMelo is out with a broken wrist.

The Oilers have a few guys out themselves; Darnell Nurse is recovering from ankle surgery, Iiro Pakarinen is dealing with a knee injury, Juhjar Khaira is dealing with wrist issues, and Tyler Pitlick has a torn ACL.
