San Jose Sharks Host Washington Capitals on Jumbo’s Celebration Night

San Jose Sharks Kick Off Six-Game Home Stand Against Washington

He did it, folks! Joe Thornton finally reached the 1,000 career assists marker on Monday night in a 3-2 win against the Winnipeg Jets. Tonight, the San Jose Sharks will kick off the evening with a pregame ceremony honoring one of the greatest passers this game has ever seen. However, they do still have a game to play as they will play host to the League-leading Washington Capitals.

The Caps have continued to trend upwards of late, winning three of their last five games. They dropped their previous game against the Dallas Stars, snapping a season-high 15 game home winning streak that spanned from the New Year.

The Sharks are feeling pretty good about themselves as they come back home to start a big 6-game home stand coming off of a win against the Jets on Monday night. They are also winners of four of their last five games, the one loss coming against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday. They’ll have a chance to pad their division lead tonight.

Tonight will also mark the debut of newly acquired Shark, Jannik Hansen who was traded from the Vancouver Canucks — on February 28th — for former Shark/Barracuda Nikolay Goldobin and a conditional 2017 4th round pick.

David Schlemko for the Sharks is out with a lower body injury. Andre Burakovsky is out with an injured hand.
